Hello,
My name is Howard Bonnewell and I am the sales manager here at Nauticus. One
of my projects that I have taken on, is to update the USS Preble Bridge. We
are in the middle of updating the USS Preble Bridge with an area that deals
with the history of the ship. What I am looking for..... if anyone has any
artifacts from the ship. For an example at this time I have a hat, belt
buckle and a year book. We are looking for anything that will bring the ship
to life. If you would like to donate or loan anything, you can get in touch
with me at (757)664-1012. Thanks,
Howard S. Bonnewell II

Shipmate Matt Matroni found that WHITE ENSIGN MODELS a british firm has listed that it will be producing a model in 1/350 scale of the Coontz Class DDG. They have an Adams Class DDG coming out also. Might be a few modelers out there interested. - Update from Chris Cummings:
Update from Chris Cummings on the White Ensign Models
Coontz class model:
Dear Mr. Cummings,
Obviously, we need to change the projected release date on our website. We
have a number of productions backlogged because we can find so few casters
who can produce kits to our standards. At this time, it's obvious that we
won't have the COONTZ kit available until sometime next year.
Best,
John Snyder

Hi Brian,
The good news is that the kit is still coming. The bad news is that it keeps
getting pushed back every time we have to pull our chief designer off to
develop another photo etch set for a new kit from Trumpeter. Look for COONTZ
to be released very late this year or very early next year.
Best,
John Snyder

Here's the next installment on the "Coontz
Class" model from Brian Kroenung:
Well... the good news is the Coontz is being done before the Leahy.
The
price will be around 180 pounds we think ($280.00). However, we only
have
one pattern maker, and he does all our PE too. The 1/700 Renown is his
greatest priority, with a Jan 14th deadline. THEN the PE sets he's
fallen
behind with, although he usually combines both types of project. This leaves
the COONTZ for around the middle of 2004.
Best Regards
Caroline Snyder

Scale Modeler Phil Toy has scratch-build an excellent model of the PREBLE. Photos of the model can be viewed at http://www.steelnavy.com/Preble311PToy.htm. Great job, Phil!
ET2 Wayne Biro and Bill McGuire wrote some Navy songs (with lyrics)
during Preble's 1984 Carribbean/Indian Ocean/Mediterranean cruise. The songs
were made aboard and about the USS Preble. It should add some additional color to the history of the Preble.
They can be found at http://maui.globat.com/~waynebiro-creations.com/preble_music.html.
